Mike Pannett will be at Wastertones in York on Friday 29th May between noon and two o’clock in the afternoon to sign his book Now Then Lad, which is a story about a policeman from London’s crime-rife streets who sees North Yorkshire from his own unique point of view, comparing his life in the inner city and that of his new life in the Yorkshire countryside.

A new pages has been made, link at the top, for useful writers’ resources and a few links to TV company submissions websites have been included to kick things off.
The companies in the first two links, BBC and Five, are usually happy for you to send ideas directly to them. Independent companies that supply material for ITV and C4 etc often prefer to hear from you first before you send them anything, so if you can get in touch with them by phone or email and ask if they’re interested in your idea and they say yes, you can then go ahead and send your synopsis with a “as requested” written on it to reduce the chances of it being thrown straight in the bin. Note, do not be tempted to send it with an “as requested” if you haven’t spoken to anyone and you don’t have a name to go with it just to try and slip through the net, they’ll be onto you right away and you will have blown any future chances of being accepted.
